Day 1

Holy Moley, Sore Booty.

Day 1!

AWESOME!

We rode 10 miles out to Sullivan's Island whereupon we ceremoniously dipped our back tire into the Atlantic Ocean. Our leader, voice booming across the otherwise empty South Carolina beach at 10 am declared "The next time you see the ocean, it will be the Pacific Ocean! Ride on!" Slightly anti-climatic dipping though....we waited for a tiny wave to reach our toes and gingerly tapped the tire into the salty sheet. And like children let free to recess, we rode west....well..kind of...we missed the turn and went 10 miles in the wrong direction. After doubling back over a huge bridge (just to prove how tough we could be....hehe...dad, i know you're rolling your eyes, yes yes , i should have gotten GPS :) We did get on track and rode some lovely back country SC roads, rather (mercifully) flat! Hot, but with refreshing breezes to pep the spirit. 47 miles later, we arrived at the church. We indulged in a relaxing lake trip, floating in the water, as warm as a hot bath long drawn, left to settle for a bit.
Glorious day. Supremely tired, supremely sore, supremely STOKED for tomorrow....just beginning to understand what I got myself into.
:)
my love to you all! be well , be joyous, live with love, and STAY IN TOUCH!!!

ADDRESSES!

Glorious, t-minus 5 days until DAY 1.

I need ADDRESSES! Please please send your address to me via facebook/ email (ktr6k@virginia.edu) or post it as a comment! I would love to send you a postcard!

If you have a request, such as, "Katie, it would be the bee's knees if you sent me a postal from Oxford, Mississippi!" let me know, I'm on it! Otherwise, expect a stellar surprise. :)

HIT $4000!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED! Katie has officially hit her $4000 mark and is now allowed to be part of the B&B SC2SC team! WOO!

I am so grateful for every donation, the whether you saved up your tips and sent them in or you decided to donate money to me instead of buying your uber nice bottle of wine. Each gesture was noted and appreciated! I adore all of you for supporting me on this trip, because really, at the end of the day, my legs peddling are only a small part of the force getting me across the nation. I'll be caring all of your thoughts and encouragement with me on the rides and to the build sites. I'm eager to put your donations to good use, to raise homes and give families the security of a place to sleep at night. Thank you for helping me spread awareness across the country and lending the financial aid that I couldn't muster all by myself. What a great local effort to make a national difference.

Karma has many good things coming for you all.

THANK YOU!!!!!
